Smith, a native Oklahoman, proudly hails from North Tulsa where he developed an early passion for improving the lives of opportunity youth and adults in his community. Driven by this passion, Smith chose to pursue a career that focused on bridging the socioeconomic divide through education and vocational training.
In his previous roles as Collaborative Action Network Specialist and Manager of My Brother’s Keeper Tulsa for ImpactTulsa, Smith worked to improve educational outcomes from cradle-to-career through asset-based data, strategic partnerships, and community-driven strategies. While there, Smith led several collaboratives with leaders from different sectors to create sustainable system change, alongside those most impacted by the problem. Before joining ImpactTulsa, Smith served as the Business Service Liaison for Workforce Tulsa, Smith trained and mentored youth to ensure a successful transition into adulthood. While there, he forged strong relationships with local businesses in and around Tulsa, to connect “job-ready” talent with in-demand occupations. Also in his professional journey, Smith served as the Outreach and Admissions Counselor at Tulsa Job Corps and later the Contract Career Advisor at Gary Job Corps in Houston, Texas, where he leveraged this skillset to effectively place students in their desired vocation.
In addition to his professional tenure, Smith currently served as Chair of the Boomtown Award committee for Tulsa’s Young Professionals, along with dedicating his efforts to various other non-profit organizations. Smith graduated from Ottawa University where he received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Children and Family Services. A proud husband and father, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful daughter Nova, traveling and boxing.
